Project 3: Welcome to Baltimore, Hon

For our 3rd class project, we had to design a 2 page spread for the nationally distributed, non-existent magazine "Go."  The magazine's audience is 25-40 year old single professionals who do not have children. The audience has a steady income and is able to travel at the drop of a hat, often traveling on weekends.

This month "Go." is featuring an article on downtown Baltimore.  Your purpose is to feature the city in a way that is attractive to your audience, ultimately convincing them to visit.  You will feature one of the following neighborhoods: Hampden, Fells Point or Federal Hill.  This will require research.  You may have to visit the area, take photos, indulge in a restaurant or bar, put yourself in the audience's shoes.

You may use color.  Consider typography and repetition to tie the two pages together.  Make sure these items appeal to your audience as well.  Alignment and hierarchy are KEY to a good magazine spread. Since the project is for a magazine, your pages should include the items you see in any magazine spread called folio elements.  This includes page numbers, the name of the magazine, possibly the issue/date and the department name.  Use magazines you have for inspiration on the page elements.

In addition, your spread should include a headline, a byline and a story.  The story should be dummy text only.  Do not spend time writing an article!  You can either copy text from a current story or use Fill with Placeholder Type in InDesign.
